The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G has been certified by the FCC. This event confirmed the S Pen support for the company’s upcoming foldable, as we expected.
The FCC certification confirms S Pen support for the Galaxy Z Fold 3
The phone appeared at FCC under the ‘SM-F926U’ model number. S Pen support has been confirmed, but that’s not all. The ultra-wideband (UWB) support has also been mentioned in the documents.
UWB support will allow the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to transfer data at a much higher frequency, and consume less power while doing it. Considering that the S Pen support has been confirmed, this will become the first foldable to support a stylus.
Now, the FCC did not mention whether the phone will ship with an S Pen, but it’s possible. A Galaxy Note-branded handset is not launching this year, so the Galaxy Z Fold 3 may be the device to kind of replace it.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 has been leaking for a long time now. The device is tipped to arrive in early August, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Watch 4, and Watch Active 4. All those devices will become available later in the month.
It will become the company’s first phone to feature an under-display camera
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be the first Samsung smartphone to offer an under-display camera. It will also offer an improved design over its predecessor. It will be a bit thicker due to the digitizer being included, though.
The Snapdragon 888 will fuel the phone, while the device will include plenty of RAM and storage. The device is tipped to include two 12-megapixel cameras on the back, alongside a 16-megapixel unit.
A 16-megapixel under-display camera has been tipped, alongside a 12-megapixel regular selfie camera (display hole) on the ‘cover’ display. It is also worth noting that Samsung is making a special S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, because of its display that is a bit more fragile.
