First Google Pixel 6 Case Leaks To Suggest Issues For Accessory Makers

The very first Google Pixel 6 case has just surfaced. If you take a look at the gallery below the article, you’ll see a regular, silicone case there. This is a clear case, and it obviously surfaced somewhere in China.

The very first Google Pixel 6 case has surfaced

This is not surprising, as that’s usually what happens after a design of a phone gets leaked. This case seems to fit perfectly to the device that leaked. As most of you know, both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro already surfaced in CAD-based renders.

Having said that, the moment those devices appeared, it was obvious that designing some cases for them will not be all that simple. The Pixel 6 handsets come with a rather odd camera bump on the back.

That camera bump is curved from the left to the right side, it’s like an arch. It’s not curved at the top and bottom, though, it falls towards the back of the phone under a 90-degree angle.

Making a case that will properly protect that camera bump is not easy, needless to say. It’s a bit more complicated than making a case for most other smartphones on the market.

The leaked case, as you can see, has a solution for that. It leaves only the central part of the camera bump exposed, but it looks a bit weird. That’s what’s necessary in this case, though.

The Pixel 6 design may present a challenge for making more premium cases

Making a regular silicone case is one thing, but making more premium cases (from more premium materials) is something completely different. It remains to be seen how will accessory makers adapt.

It will be interesting to see some wooden, and metal cases for the device, the same goes for leather ones. We’re expecting to see various different approaches to these cases, though most of them will probably protect the camera bump in a similar way to this silicone case.

The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are expected to arrive in either September or October. The Pixel Watch is said to be coming alongside those two phones, by the way. If you’d like to know more, check out our Pixel 6 and 6 Pro previews.
