Genshin Impact has been available on PC since launch, but never through the Epic Games Store. That being said it’s also not available through Steam. Although you can add it to your Steam library if you want.
Starting next week however, Genshin Impact will be available to download and install through the Epic Games Store. This is a big win for Epic, as Genshin Impact is a pretty popular game and it’s not available on Epic’s biggest competitor, Steam. You can just as easily install the regular PC client from Genshin Impact’s website. But with availability in the Epic Games Store players get to keep everything in one single client.
Grabbing the game from Epic also has another benefit, as miHoYo is giving out a bonus to people who download the game using a unique code. Getting this in-game bonus is only available for a limited time though. So players will need to utilize it as quickly as they can.
Genshin Impact comes to the Epic Games Store on June 9
June 9 is a big day for Genshin because it’s both coming to the Epic Games Store on that date and it gets the big 1.6 content patch. Which has a lot of cool stuff being added, including a new Samurai character who leads into the story for the major city Inazuma that’s being added in a later update.
For players, starting on June 9 when the game releases on Epic’s PC client, using the redemption code “GenshinEpic” will net some in-game rewards. There’s no mention of what this bonus contains. But it’ll likely be a combination of the game’s main currency, Primogems, and some various other items and/or materials.
There’s also no mention of a specific end date to using the redemption code. Just that it’s only available for a limited time.
If you want to get a jump on things, then you can add Genshin Impact to your Epic Games Store wishlist as of today. That way you’re ready to install the game as soon as it goes live. If you have notifications for Epic turned on ten you’ll also get the alert that it’s available for download.
