Google Pixel Fold Coming "At End Of 2021", Rollable Also Planned

It’s not exactly a secret that Google is planning to release a foldable smartphone this year. That information has been shared by several sources, and Ross Young confirmed it once again. He said that the Google Pixel Fold will launch at the end of 2021, while the Pixel Roll is planned for the future.

The Google Pixel Fold is expected to launch “at end of 2021”, rollable coming later on

Ross Young, for those of you who don’t know, is a well-respected display analyst. He’s rarely wrong about the information he releases. Just to be clear, he did not confirm the Pixel Roll name. He did talk about Google’s foldable, and suggested that name would be nice, but he did not confirm it.

So, Google will release three high-end devices by the end of 2021. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are coming, along with the company’s foldable. We’re, at least, presuming that the company’s first foldable will be a high-end offering. We’ll have to wait and see.

Not much is known about the company’s foldable smartphone. It is expected to be an in-folding smartphone, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series. Not even that has been confirmed by reliable sources, though.

The company’s foldable probably won’t arrive alongside the Pixel 6 series

Ross Young did say that the phone will launch “at end of 2021”. That kind of suggests that it won’t arrive alongside the Pixel 6 series. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are expected to arrive on September 30, at least according to the latest information. Along with those two phones, Google is expected to announce its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch.

The Google Pixel Fold, if that ends up being its name, will arrive later on. Google is expected to host a separate event towards the end of the year, it seems.

Samsung has been leading the foldables market, there’s no doubt about that. The company is planning for two more additions to its foldable lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Both of those are expected to land in August, before Google’s first foldable smartphone. Xiaomi is also expected to add some foldables this year, the same goes for Motorola, and more OEMs.
