Huawei P50 Flagship Series May Finally Launch On July 29

Huawei may finally launch its P50 flagship smartphones on July 29. This information comes from Weibo, after a binary code got converted. The 1011011001 binary code got converted to 729, which suggests July (7) 29 (day).

The Huawei P50 series may launch on July 29, finally

This is still not an official confirmation from Huawei’s side, but if this date is accurate, that confirmation will come in the coming weeks. As a reminder, the Huawei P40 series launched in March last year, so the P50 series is quite a bit late at this point.

Huawei’s issues due to the US ban are quite considerable, so this is not surprising. The company did tease its upcoming smartphone series during its recent event, and some information did surface thus far.

Before we get to it, though, it’s worth noting that another P50 rumor appeared in China. It is claimed that Huawei may unveil mostly 4G-ready P50 handsets, all with the Kirin 9000 SoC. It is claimed that the pandemic affected the supply chain quite a bit.

Both 4G & 5G variants are expected

Now, both 4G and 5G versions are expected. The 4G-ready versions are expected to be more affordable, of course. That being said, a third rumor also appeared recently, talking about the P50’s ultrawide sensor.

It is claimed that the phone will use a 1/1.18-inch sensor for the ultrawide camera. That is a huge sensor, and would make it the largest ultrawide sensor in any phone. The main sensor is rumored to be the yet-unreleased Sony IMX800 1-inch sensor. It remains to be seen if there’s any truth to that, though.

The Huawei P50’s rear camera island will consist out of two large circles. The top circle will include three sensors, while the bottom one will include one, most likely. All three devices will ship with Harmony OS, and without Google services. More information will likely arrive soon, so stay tuned.
