Motorola is preparing to launch multiple new smartphones in the coming months. Recent reports have revealed that Sierra, Kyoto, Berlin, and Berlin NA are the codenames of some of the upcoming devices. ‘Kyoto’ is said to be an affordable model in the company’s Moto Edge series. Noted tipster Evan Blass has now claimed that this Motorola phone will launch as the Moto Edge 20 Lite.
Mr. Blass, aka @evleaks, has also revealed the marketing names of two more upcoming Motorola smartphones. The device codenamed ‘Lisbon’ will arrive as the Moto G60S while another phone codenamed ‘Saipan’ will debut with the Moto G50 5G moniker.
If you recall, Motorola already has a phone called Moto G50 with 5G connectivity. Launched in March, the company internally referred to that phone as ‘Ibiza’. It’s now unclear how the upcoming ‘Saipan’ will differ from it. Anyways, it is the very first time we are hearing about the Motorola Saipan. So things should get clearer in the coming weeks as more details about the new phone start popping up on the internet.
The Motorola Lisbon is also appearing in leaks for the first time. The Motorola Kyoto, meanwhile, has been doing rounds on the internet at least since April. Reports suggest this phone will feature a 108-megapixel rear camera, the ISOCELL S4KHM2 sensor from Samsung. If you’re wondering, it’s not the same camera as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The latest Galaxy flagship uses a newer and more advanced HM3 sensor.
The primary shooter at the back of the Motorola Kyoto is flanked by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The device gets a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, which is an OmniVision OV32B40 sensor.
Motorola Kyoto might launch alongside the ‘Berlin’ and ‘Berlin NA’
As said earlier, the Motorola Kyoto, i.e. Moto Edge 20 Lite, is an affordable model in the company’s next-gen Moto Edge series smartphones. Two of the aforementioned codenames – Berlin and Berlin NA – also belong to this flagship series. These two could be the higher-end models in the upcoming Moto Edge lineup.
Recent leaks suggest both ‘Berlin’ and ‘Berlin NA’ will feature the Snapdragon 778G SoC with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phones would borrow the 108-megapixel primary rear camera and the 32-megapixel front-facing camera from the ‘Kyoto’. However, there might be some differences in terms of the display size, resolution, battery capacity, and other key specs. We should get to know more about the upcoming Motorola smartphones in the coming weeks as the company prepares to launch the Edge 20 series.
