Samsung Fixes Galaxy S21 Camera Lag Issues With June Update

Samsung has so far released two June updates for the Galaxy S21 series. The official changelog for both updates mentioned performance improvements for the Camera app. In other words, the updates promised a fix for the crazy stutter and camera lag issues that many Galaxy S21 users have reported over the past few weeks. Affected users say zooming in/out or switching the lenses takes an enormous amount of time, often rendering the feature useless. While the issues reportedly aren’t completely gone even after two updates, the company has now explained what has been fixed.

According to a Samsung Members community moderator, the latest updates for the Galaxy S21 series optimizes the Portrait Mode engine. The update also includes memory and engine optimizations while capturing shots at high zoom levels. These improvements should fix those stutter and lag issues with the Galaxy S21 camera.

Note that this announcement was made on Samsung’s official forums in South Korea, where the second June update is yet to be released for the Galaxy S21 series. The post also mentions a couple of other changes that will accompany the new update in the coming days.

Firstly, the Galaxy S21 phones are picking up a new feature that can recognize and read QR codes in photos store in the gallery. The new update will also improve the usability of the Video Call Effect feature. It reportedly adds a new manual color function (via). There are no Night Mode camera improvements incoming with the latest update, though.

Galaxy S21 June update fixes camera lag issues, but the rollout is too slow

The June update for the Galaxy S21 series is rolling out awfully slowly. While the devices have already received two updates in some regions, not even a single update has arrived in others. Also, it’s unclear which of these updates brings the aforementioned fixes and improvements in markets outside of South Korea. Moreover, there’s also a possibility that a third update will roll out soon as reports suggest the issues aren’t fully resolved even after installing both updates, though there’s some improvement.

Either way, one or more June updates should fix those insane lag and stutter the Galaxy S21 camera has been suffering from recently. We will keep you updated as and when more information emerges. In the meantime, if you’re still experiencing issues with your Galaxy S21 camera, be on the lookout for a new update in the coming days.
