The Samsung Galaxy S22 camera specs have just surfaced. This information comes from @FrontTron, a tipster, though take it with a grain of salt. The tipster himself says this may not be accurate, and on top of that, he’s not exactly the most accurate tipster.
Alleged Galaxy S22 camera specs suggest improved hardware is coming
That being said, the source says that the Galaxy S22 and S22+ will feature a 50-megapixel main camera sensor. In addition to that, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera will be included, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
This suggests that the devices will include three cameras on the back, which is to be expected. The Galaxy S22 Ultra camera specs haven’t been discussed here, but they’ll likely be considerably different. The ‘Ultra’ model will likely include a larger main sensor, and a periscope camera as well.
If these specs end up being accurate, then we’re looking at an improvement in comparison to the Galaxy S21 and S21+. Well, an improvement on paper, at the very least. Those two phones, and the Galaxy S20 and S20+, feature a 12-megapixel main camera, along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera.
If this information is true, Samsung will use a larger main camera sensor
Now, if Samsung ends up using a 50-megapixel main camera sensor on the Galaxy S22, that will probably be a larger 1/1.28-inch sensor, or a 1/1.12-inch perhaps. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 and S21+ used a 1/1.76-inch sensor.
This sensor will offer larger pixels, and with the right software, it should be able to provide crisper and brighter images. The Galaxy S21 and S21+ do offer good camera quality, but it’s time Samsung improves upon that.
As already mentioned, take this information with a grain of salt. The Galaxy S22 series launch won’t take place until Q1 next year. Once again, do note that it’s possible this information is inaccurate, only time will tell.
