Samsung Is Testing Its Upcoming Exynos SoC With AMD GPU

Samsung seems to be testing its upcoming Exynos SoC with AMD GPU. A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, has revealed that the SoC appeared in the ‘Wild Life’ test. He also included a screenshot, which you can see below the article.

That chip managed to score 8,134 points in the 3D Mark test. Ice Universe also mentions that the CPU in this test is based on an A77 architecture. Results from these tests are probably way off, though.

That being said, Samsung is expected to announce its first Exynos SoC with AMD GPU this year. The chip is rumored to be called the Exynos 2200, which makes sense considering that the existing one is the Exynos 2100.

Based on reports, that GPU will be incredibly powerful. The Galaxy S22 series is expected to debut this processor in Q1 next year. Well, at least devices in some regions are expected to do so.

As many of you know, Samsung included Exynos SoCs in European and Indian models thus far, while users in the US and China got Snapdragon variants. It remains to be seen if the company will continue with that practice, or will it change things around.

The Exynos 2100 trails behind its Snapdragon counterpart

The Exynos 2100, and a number of its predecessors, couldn’t really compete with their Snapdragon counterparts. The Exynos 2100 is heating up more than the Snapdragon 888, and it causing some throttling for users.

The performance between those two processors is… well, different. It remains to be seen what will the Exynos 2200 deliver. Users are surely expecting some major improvements, and a similar experience to its upcoming Snapdragon counterpart, if not better.

That AMD GPU inside the chip will surely benefit gamers the most. It is expected to be a lot more powerful than anything else on the market. The chip itself is expected to benefit from the inclusion of this GPU in general. We’ll see how everything will be implemented, though.
