Galaxy S21 Ultra Wins The 'Best Smartphone' Award At GLOMO 2021

Samsung‘s latest high-end flagship, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, is one of the best smartphones money can buy right now. Or perhaps it’s the very best, as recognized by the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 in Barcelona. The device was voted “Best Smartphone” of the past year by the jury.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the “best Android smartphone Samsung has ever made,” the category judges said about the phone. “With a great range of features, stunning AMOLED display, best-in-class cameras, and more, this phone delivers across the board and is a worthy winner of Best Smartphones in 2021.”

The annual GLOMO Awards recognize the “hardware, software, and services that drive innovation across the mobile industry worldwide”. The jury takes into account various criteria including, but not limited to, physical design, performance, commercial success, user experience, environmental and sustainability credentials, software support, and value for money. The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G was nominated alongside the iPhone 12 Pro Max, OnePlus 9 Pro, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the “Best Smartphone” category.

Galaxy S21 Ultra is the best smartphone after all

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a lot going for it that has helped it win the coveted award. Featuring a big 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, this phone offers up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate at the highest WQHD+ resolution. It also supports the S Pen for advanced productivity.

The Exynos 2100/Snapdragon 888 chipset comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. There are two telephoto cameras at the back that are capable of achieving 100x Space Zoom. The 108-megapixel primary camera also captures stunning, highly detailed photographs. All this comes in a metal and glass housing that boasts exceptional build quality and a great contour-cut design. With an entry price of $1200, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G was a too strong proposition from Samsung. No wonder it sold like hotcakes during its first few weeks into the market. The demand for this phone was so high that it was the highest-grossing Android smartphone globally in the first quarter of this year.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G will likely remain the most powerful Samsung smartphone for the rest of the year. Its successor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra (name not official), should take things up a notch early next year.

In the meantime, the Korean firm is preparing to launch two new foldables soon. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 should break cover in early August. These phones are expected to raise the bar further for other OEMs in the foldable category.
