After announcing the Ring Always Home Cam last year, Amazon is finally ready to bring it into your home.
Starting today, you can request an invitation to be an early tester for this new innovation from Ring. The Always Home Cam is a Ring Camera that is essentially attached to a drone, and flies on predetermined paths in your home when it is trigged. The drone with camera will cost $249, and if you live in the US, you can apply for an invitation here.
So what’s the point of this camera? Well, it allows you to see inside your home, when you’re not there. Without having to buy cameras to put all around your home. It can also tie into the Ring Alarm and other Ring products, so you can see your home inside and out.
The Ring Always Home Cam is only able to record in-flight and the drone does make an audible noise. Making it pretty clear that it is recording. There is also obstacle avoidance technology, so that it won’t run into things within your home.
Invite-only has become a recent trend for Amazon
It kind of sucks that you need to get an invite to buy this, but that’s been a trend for Amazon as of late. In fact, the Amazon Glow that was announced today is also invite-only. This is basically for all of Amazon’s products that are “experiments”. So by getting an invite, you are one of its beta testers for this product. It’s a good way to do it, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll actually get the invite.
This is not something that everyone is going to want to have in their home. But if you are one that does want this Ring Always Home Cam in your home, you can apply to get an invite by clicking here.
