Google Is Testing A 'Quick Read' Label For Search Pages

Google started to test a new label in its search pages that tend to guide users into reading shorter articles. The label is known as “Quick Read,” and as you can see in the below screenshots, it adds a “<5 Min Read” text below the short article SEO description.

These days, most users tend to read short articles and get their answers as fast as possible. That’s why Google constantly adds new features to its search page to help users find quick solutions. Featured Snippets are a prominent example of Google’s effort to provide users with fast and reliable answers. The search giant is now testing a label below shorter articles to motivate users to click on them.

Google brings the “Quick Read” label to search pages

If you’ve previously used RSS feed readers, you’re familiar with such a feature as RSS feed readers have been using it for quite a long time. The feature could be helpful in some ways, especially when rushing to get an answer. Also, it can help content creators produce shorter but more meaningful content and avoid writing redundant texts.

Google is reportedly testing different variants of “Quick Read” labels on mobile and desktop. In the below screenshots, you can see a label with a blue clock icon and black text and another label with a gray icon and gray text. Some desktop users even spotted the label in gray and blue.

The “Quick Read” is still in the test phase, and the final label will be one of these. Also, we shouldn’t wait too long to see “Quick Read” labels on the search pages as Google is usually fast with adding new features to its search page.

The recent moves by Google suggest that the company is focused on developing and improving its search experience. The search giant is adding game streaming to the search pages, enabling users to start streaming a game directly from the search results. The company also began testing widgets on the search desktop homepage.
