HyperX has announced HX3D at CES 2023, a new program for customizing your gaming peripherals using 3D print technology. The program is built around HP’s 3D print technology and will add new ways for gamers to customize their accessories, starting with gaming keyboards.
Revealed at CES 2023 today, HyperX is showing off the first peripheral upgrade to come from this program. A custom keycap that can be used on mechanical gaming keyboards. HyperX says that the custom keycap is compatible with its own keyboards, as well as keyboards from most other brands. The first keycap accessory is a unique custom design called Cozy Cat, and will be available in the US for $19.99 starting this month.
The Cozy Cat keycap is also one of a handful of new custom designs that will be available. All will be created using the HX3D program and all are limited edition. Which probably means there won’t be a lot of them produced. Additional keycaps are part of the first planned series of custom peripheral upgrades. And will be made available over the coming months, the company said.
HyperX will use HX3D to create all kinds of gaming peripheral upgrades
Keycaps is where it starts, although HyperX does have plans for more types of custom peripheral upgrades down the line. It’ll work with content creators, game developers, Esports teams, influencers, and internal creative teams to come up with new designs. There’s no word yet on availability of these custom collectibles for other peripheral types.
Although, it appears that collectibles will span the range of just about every peripheral HyperX makes. For example, mice, headsets, microphones and more. Basically, any type of peripheral you can think of.
The company is even showing off some preview examples of what these collectibles could look like. However, these won’t necessarily end up being sold. Custom earcup caps, ears for headsets, and housing for streaming microphones are all on display. And it seems imagination is the only real limit to what can be created. You can check out the full slate of collectible examples in the video below, and the Cozy Cat limited edition keycap can be picked up directly from HyperX.
