OnePlus 11 is IP64 rated in all markets after all

The OnePlus 11 is IP64 rated in all markets, the company has confirmed to GSM Arena. Now, some of you may be familiar with this spec already, but not all of you. There’s a reason we’re reporting on it separately.

The OnePlus 11 is IP64 rated in all markets

OnePlus seemingly listed the IP64 rating in the US, it mentioned it to US outlets, such as ourselves. Media outlets elsewhere did not see this spec listed. So, it seemed like the phone is IP64 rated in the US only, that wouldn’t be surprising.

Well, that’s luckily not the case. The company has confirmed that the IP64 rating is included in all markets where the phone is officially available. It’s not an IP68 rating, but this is better than nothing, that’s for sure.

What does IP64 mean, exactly? Well, it means that the phone is “dust tight”, and also resistant to water splashes from any direction. Many of its competitors do offer full water immersion for a specific period of time, so this is definitely not on the same level as the IP68 rating.

The OnePlus 10 Pro did offer IP68 certification

What makes this even weirder is the fact that the OnePlus 10 Pro offered IP68 rating, a predecessor to the OnePlus 11. OnePlus did also remove wireless charging, though, in order to hit this lower price tag, at least in the US. The phone is considerably more expensive in Europe.

We’ve also updated our OnePlus 11 specifications article in order to reflect this change. As the rating is not market dependent after all. IP64 rating will do just fine for most people, it’ll give them some piece of mind.

The OnePlus 11 launched a couple of days ago during the company’s Cloud 11 event. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, while it comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. UFS 4.0 flash storage is also included.

A 5,000mAh battery sits on the inside, while the device supports 100W (80W in the US) charging. Android 13 comes pre-installed, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS 13. 5G is supported, while a compelling camera setup with Hasselblad’s branding is also a part of the package.
