The OnePlus 11 Pro won’t launch this year, or at all, as OnePlus decided to ditch the ‘Pro’ branding. The company wants to “streamline” its portfolio of smartphones, as it confirmed to 9to5Google.
The OnePlus 11 Pro is not coming, as OnePlus ditches ‘Pro’ branding
OnePlus has been announcing a ‘Pro’ flagship phone for years. From 2019 to 2021 it did that, with the OnePlus 7, 8, and 9 series phones. The company decided to change things up this year, though.
Last year only the OnePlus 10 Pro launched, without the vanilla model. This year we only got the vanilla model, which is actually the ‘Pro’ model, but without the ‘Pro’ branding, basically.
The company said the following: “Starting with our 2023 lineup, we are streamlining the flagship portfolio in North America (and globally) by removing our Pro lineup. You don’t need to have a ‘Pro’ name for a device that’s already ‘pro.’”
There is, of course, a chance this will change at some point in the future, but not with the OnePlus 11 lineup. The OnePlus 11T is expected to launch later in the year, though, so keep an eye out for that.
First OnePlus foldable is also expected this year, maybe even two
The company is also expected to announce some foldable smartphones later this year. Both its vertically and horizontally-folding devices are expected to arrive, but we’ll see what will happen in the end.
OnePlus launched its OnePlus 11 flagship yesterday, along with a number of other devices. Those devices include the OnePlus Pad, the company’s first tablet, the OnePlus 11R, the very first OnePlus keyboard, and more.
The OnePlus 11 does include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and both LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. It also comes with Hasselblad branding, and Android 13 out of the box.
This phone has a compelling camera setup on the back, a 5,000mAh battery, and immensely fast charging. It supports 100W wired charging globally, and 80W in the US. Wireless charging is not supported at all, though.
