Call of Duty for 2023 will reportedly be a full premium title and it’ll be connected to the Modern Warfare franchise, according to Insider Gaming. This might not sound like a huge surprise as the Call of Duty franchise has typically had an annual release every single year for many years now. But since before Modern Warfare II’s release last year, it was rumored that 2023 would not have a full premium game.
Initially that was said to be the plan. That instead, Activision would be releasing a DLC for Modern Warfare II. However, the latest rumor now suggests that plan has changed. Call of Duty for 2023 will now be a full premium title, and still be connected to the Modern Warfare franchise. It’s also being said that the game will be developed by Sledgehammer. Although it will be a collaborative effort between all of Activision’s Call of Duty studios.
Call of Duty 2023 will be connected to the Modern Warfare series
It’s still unclear what the game will be called, but Insider Gaming says that they’ve heard from their source that Call of Duty for 2023 will be related to Modern Warfare. It may or may not be called Modern Warfare III. But those who have played and finished the Modern Warfare II campaign will know where things may be headed.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Activision may end up telling players through the current game. This is what the company did with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It ended up revealing that particular title though a Warzone event. There is so far nothing to suggest Activision will do the same thing here. But it is progressing the story through the episodic raid. The second episode of which releases in the middle of season 2.
Players may want to keep an eye on how the story from the raid goes as it could lead into the game for this year.
The campaign will have early access
Much is unknown about the game at this point. But there are still some details that have managed to surface. Specifically regarding key dates linked to the game’s release. These mostly surround things like early access for the campaign and beta weekends.
According to the report there will be two beta weekends. The first one is for PS4 and PS5 on October 6, lasting until October 10. A second beta weekend will open up on October 12 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Campaign early access is said to start on November 2 for all platforms. Likely tied to a pre-order. Lastly, a potential release date is set for November 10.
