It seems like there’s a new change coming to WhatsApp every other week. There’s a new feature coming to the app for Android that will make using it that much more convenient. WhatsApp for Android will let users edit their contacts without leaving the app, according to WABInfo.
This is being beta tested at the moment, so you won’t see it if you’re not signed up for the beta. Right now, the beta program for the Android app is full, so you’ll need to wait for this feature to come to the public to see it.
As it stands, when you want to edit a contact in WhatsApp, the app will take you to your system’s default contact app to edit it. It’s heavily tied to your system’s contacts, so there isn’t really a way to just change your WhatsApp contacts.
But, Android WhatsApp users will soon be able to edit their contacts within the app
This is something that was already available on iOS devices- shocker, huh? So, it’s in testing for Android users at the moment. What this feature will do is let you edit the contact within the app without needing to navigate outside of it.
This might not seem like a major feature, but it can save some time if you’re constantly adding and editing contacts on your account. When you get the feature, after you tap on the edit contact button, you’ll be taken to a UI within the app itself. You’ll be able to edit the contact details right there. This is a much better option than switching back and forth between apps.
At the time, we don’t know when this feature is going to make it to the public. It was discovered in versions 2.23.8.2, 2.23.8.4, 2.23.8.5, and 2.23.8.6 of the app’s beta. So, if you’re enrolled in the app’s beta program, you’ll see this feature first. Those on the stable build of the app will need to wait.
