Apple Watch could get its Biggest Software Update in Years

As we approach WWDC in June, rumors and leaks are flying pretty heavy. While many are focusing on the AR/VR headset that is rumored to launch, as well as iOS 17, there’s other things to talk about too – like watchOS 10.

Now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, watchOS 10 could be getting its biggest software update since 2015. And it’s sorely needed. watchOS hasn’t gotten a big update in quite a few years now. It’s mostly been updates to other apps like the Apple Fitness app in watchOS 9, or the Health app.

watchOS 10 could get an “updated interface”

Gurman stated in his newsletter, that watchOS 10 could feature an “updated interface” and also bring in some “bigger enhancements”. Though, Gurman, as usual, did not specify anything here. Which, if you follow him and his leaks, you’ll know that’s pretty common for him.

He has also said that there are some big hardware changes coming for the next Apple Watch models, so watchOS 10 will likely be focusing on that and be a major focus this year.

That’s not all that surprising, since iOS 17 is rumored to be a smaller update. In fact, it’s set to be a big performance and stability update. Something that really needs to be done. And then the other major focus is on xrOS, which is Apple’s rumored name for their operating system for the rumored AR/VR headset that many believe will be announced at WWDC in June.

WWDC will be kicking off on June 5 at 10AM PT with the annual keynote. That’s where Apple will announce everything. That includes iOS 17, tvOS17, iPadOS 17, Watch OS 10, macOS 14 and so much more. That also includes some possible hardware. There are some rumors of a 15-inch MacBook Air being announced, as well as of course the AR/VR Headset – which is being rumored to cost around $3,000.
