Galaxy S10 5G, Note 10 & more Galaxy devices get April update

Samsung is pushing the April 2023 Android security patch to more Galaxy smartphones. The latest security update is now rolling out for the Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy A32 5G, and Galaxy A04e. It patches more than 70 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.

As of this writing, the April SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy S10 5G is available only in Europe. More precisely, the update is rolling out to users in Switzerland with the firmware build number G977BXXSEHWC1 (via). The rollout should expand to more countries in the region over the next few days and eventually reach other parts of the world, including the US. The update doesn’t bring anything notable apart from the latest security patches.

The April SMR will not be available for the rest of the Galaxy S10 series, though. The Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ arrived on the market a couple of months earlier than the 5G model. They turned four in March 2023 and Samsung expectedly dropped them from its official update support list. They will not get updates anymore. This may very well be the last update for the Galaxy S10 5G as well, or at least the penultimate one.

The Galaxy Note 10 series is also nearing the end of its life. Debuted in August 2019, the two S Pen-equipped Samsung smartphones will turn four this August. Like the Galaxy S10 series, they are also only guaranteed updates for your years after launch. Ahead of the nearing dead end, the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ are picking up the April 2023 security patch. The rollout is currently limited to the same European country and comes with the firmware version N97*FXXS8HWC3. A global release should be just around the corner.

The April security update is also available for a few low-cost Galaxy devices

Along with flagship models, Samsung is also updating the eligible budget and mid-range smartphones to the April security patch. Joining the party today are the Galaxy A32 5G and the Galaxy A04e. The former is currently picking up the latest security update in Samsung’s homeland South Korea with the firmware version A326KKSS4DWC5.

The rollout for the latter, meanwhile, is quite widespread. The Galaxy A04e is receiving the April update in Europe, Asia, Africa, and more regions. The new firmware version for this entry-level smartphone is A042FXXS2CWC3 (via). Over the next few days, Samsung will push the April SMR to a few more Galaxy devices, including tablets. We will keep you posted accordingly.
