Motorola‘s upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone Razr 40 Ultra has leaked in a fresh set of official-looking renders. The latest leak shows the phone from various angles, giving us a more detailed look at its design. We still don’t have an official launch date for the device.
Shared by Evan Blass, the leaked renders show the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra’s big cover display in all its glory. The company has cut three holes in the external screen to fit two cameras and an LED flash. These cutouts obstruct some of the UI but Motorola likely decided that people won’t use the cover display for tasks like media consumption and video calls. The three holes shouldn’t come in the way of quickly checking out messages and notifications or taking selfies with the rear cameras.
The leaked images also confirm that Motorola will offer the red color variant of the Razr 40 Ultra with a vegan leather rear panel. In addition to it, we can see the phone in black and light blue colors as well. Like Samsung’s Flip lineup, the new Razr foldable will also seemingly support a “Flex” mode where you can keep the device half-folded to enhance productivity. Without a robust set of software features, Motorola would find it hard to compete against Samsung, which has established itself in the foldable market.
Motorola also has a non-Ultra Razr 40 in the pipeline
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra won’t be the only clamshell foldable smartphone to come out through the Lenovo-owned company’s doors this year. We are expecting a vanilla Razr 40 to accompany it. There have been plenty of leaks about both devices in recent months. The former has also been referred to as the Razr+ 2023 or Razr 40 Pro in the past, while the latter was previously called the Razr 40 Lite. Maybe the company will name the devices differently in China and global markets, something it often does.
While we wait for confirmation on that, leaks about the new foldables keep coming thick and fast. We recently saw both models in leaked renders. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra has now appeared in another set of renders.
