Samsung‘s upcoming smartwatch Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has cleared the FCC certification process. The American regulatory body has certified both 42mm and 46mm size variants of the watch. It certified the 40mm and 44mm Galaxy Watch 6 a few days back.
We have long known that Samsung is bringing back its iconic physical rotating bezel on its smartwatches this year. The company will launch a Classic model featuring the bezel ring to go with a vanilla Galaxy Wach 6 without it. Both models will be available in two sizes each, which we have mentioned above. Moreover, all four size variants will come with Bluetooth and cellular connectivity options.
All of these watches are gradually picking up the FCC certification on their way to launch next month. The official documents reveal that Samsung is readying separate versions for the US and international markets. For example, the 42mm Galaxy Watch 6 Classic LTE has the model number SM-R955U in the US and SM-R955F in other regions. There won’t be any major differences between the two versions, though.
The Galaxy Watch 6 series will not get a faster charging speed
The FCC documents confirm that the Galaxy Watch 6 series will retain the 10W wireless charging speed (5V/2A) of last year’s models. Samsung isn’t upgrading its smartwatches in terms of charging speeds. The new models getting the same charger as well (model number ER-OR900). However, the word is that the watches will pack marginally bigger batteries this time around. The 40mm and 42mm variants will feature a 300mAh battery (up from 284mAh), while the 44mm and 46mm variants will get a 425mAh battery (up from 410mAh).
Elsewhere, Samsung is said to have developed a new Exynos processor for the Galaxy Watch 6 series. The Exynos W980 will reportedly bring a 10% performance boost over the Exynos W920 that powers the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series. Both are 5nm chipsets, though the new solution could be more power efficient thanks to better optimization from the Korean behemoth. The upcoming smartwatches may also look more premium thanks to slimmer bezels around the display.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 6 series will debut on July 27. The new watches will arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldables and the Galaxy Tab S9 series flagship tablets. We have already seen most of these devices in leaked CAD renders. And, as the official launch approaches, we may get real-life photos as well. Stick around and we will keep you posted.
