It’s that time. Time for a new Pixel Feature Drop from Google. This feature drop is actually a fairly small one, which makes plenty of sense, since the stable version of Android 14 is set to launch around the next feature drop.
So what’s new in this Pixel Feature Drop? Let’s start with Pixel phones. New in this feature drop is Cinematic Wallpapers. Google says that this is powered by Google AI, and Pixel is able to transform 2D wallpaper photos into dynamic 3D scenes for a truly magical look on your home screen and lock screen.
Google is also bringing Safety Check + Emergency Sharing, which allows the Google Assistant to start emergency sharing when needed. Macro Focus Video is coming to the Google Pixel 7 Pro, as well as Recorder Speaker Labels coming to the Recorder app. And much more.
Plenty of features for Pixel Watch and Fitbit
Now, the Pixel Watch is getting quite a few updates, as well as Fitbit.
Specific to the Pixel Watch, is Auto-pause. So, Pixel Watch will automatically pause your run, walk or bike exercise, if you need to stop at a light or take a quick breather. It will also automatically resume once you start up again.
Now the other features are more Fitbit-centric. Like support for notifications in more languages. This includes the Sense 2, Versa 4, Charge 5, Luxe and Inspire 3).
The Daily Readiness is coming to your wrist. Fitbit is also adding a Menstrual Health tile for the Sense 2 and Versa 4, the only ones that support tracking your menstrual cycle. Fitbit is also adding the ability to pick your new clock face right from your watch, instead of having to use the Fitbit app to do this.
Finally, you’ll be able to choose from a list of exercise modes on your tracker, as well as four new clock faces available in the Fitbit app gallery.
So this time around, the Pixel Feature Drop seems to be more for non-Pixel devices. With quite a few updates for Fitbit, but very few for Pixel phones and Pixel Watch. Of course, this Pixel Feature Drop does also come with the June 2023 security patch.
