The Nothing Phone (1), Nothing’s very first smartphone, will get the Nothing OS 2.0 update in August. This info has been shared by the company’s CEO and founder, Carl Pei, so it’s official.
About a week ago, Nothing’s software creative directory, Mladen M. Hoyss, confirmed that the Nothing OS 2.0 will look very different from the first-gen iteration. He said that Nothing was limited for the first-gen software due to a limited number of people, but things changed.
Nothing OS 2.0 will land on the Nothing Phone (1) in August
Nothing seems to be looking to further modernize the software. Hoyss believes that the home screen is underutilized on Android, and seems to be ready to present something different with Nothing OS 2.0.
We’ll have to wait until the Nothing Phone (2) launches in order to find out what. That will happen next month, by the way. Nothing confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch on July 11.
The Nothing Phone (1) will get the software from the new model in August, which is nice to see. We still don’t know the exact date, but that is Carl Pei’s promise. It will also make the Nothing Phone (1) users happy, that’s for sure
Carl Pei said that “software support is very important” to the company
In his tweet, Carl Pei also said that software support is very important to Nothing, hence this announcement. It will be interesting to see how will Nothing handle things a couple of years down the road, if it expands to more than one phone per year. So far, things have been working out fine.
The Nothing Phone (1) launched in July last year, and it’s still a rather compelling phone. When it launched, it managed to grab a lot of attention due to its rather unique design. The Nothing Phone (2) will seemingly follow a similar design footprint.
