The open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is fast approaching. The next game in the Call of Duty franchise is officially due out on November 10. But as always you’ll have a chance to check out the multiplayer game modes prior to that date.
You’ll do this, naturally, in the Modern Warfare III beta. But again, when you can access it will depend on where you buy the game. Specifically which platform you plan to play on. As it’s confirmed that PlayStation players will be able to access the beta exclusively before everyone else. That being said, don’t let the difference in times necessarily dictate which platform you buy the game for. You should buy it where you think you will enjoy playing it most.
With that out of the way, here’s a breakdown of when the beta goes live and for what platforms.
When you can play the Modern Warfare III beta on PS5 and PS4
The beta goes live on PlayStation consoles before Xbox and PC. So if you have a PS4 or PS5 and plan to pick it up on this platform, you’ll be able to play the beta beginning the first week of October. But, there is a caveat. There’s the early access beta and the open beta. These are separate.
What that means is the early access beta will require you to pre-order the game in some capacity. But if you aren’t going to pre-order, you can play in the open beta and still have plenty of time to check things out.
PS4 and PS5 early access beta times
If you pre-order the game for one of the PlayStation consoles, you can play in the early access beta starting on October 6 through October 7.
PS4 and PS5 open beta times
If you don’t plan to pre-order, you can start playing the beta on October 8 through October 10. Early access players will also be able to play during these times.
When you can play the beta on all platforms
To get early access to the beta when it goes live for Xbox and PC platforms, you can boot up the game starting on October 12 and through October 13. This is also another section of open beta access for PlayStation players.
Finally, the beta will open up for everyone starting on October 14, and continue through October 16. Naturally, pre-ordering on PlayStation will give you the most time here. But this shouldn’t be your reason for choosing PlayStation over another platform. Having said that, there are probably going to be things to unlock during the beta. And the more time you have, the better your chances of unlocking everything.
With Modern Warfare II, there were a number of different rewards you could earn by playing in the beta. So if you won’t or can’t grind that out, and you have the opportunity to get the game on PS4 or PS5, you might want to consider it.
