A new trailer has released for the upcoming open-world survival game Once Human, and the game’s development studio Starry Studios has announced an upcoming beta test for later this year.
The latest trailer gives players a good look at the creepy world they’ll be exploring once the game launches. Or once the beta goes live should they be invited to participate. As a survival game, Once Human will have players relying heavily on found resources. Which means you’ll need to horde stuff to ensure you always have what you need. Players also have the ability to team up with others and compile resources to more easily survive in this post-apocalyptic setting.
But it’s also possible to take stuff from other players. So you’ll need to be careful about who you trust. Interestingly, Starry Studios says there’s a lot of player-choice involved in the gameplay. “Player actions significantly influence the world,” Starry Studios says. For example, battles with other players or certain NPCs can shape the fates of enemy factions. The landscape of the game can also be permanently altered by players building stuff.
The Once Human beta begins this Winter
If this game looks interesting to you and you want to give it a try, you’ll have your chance later this year. The beta will begin in “Winter of 2023.” It’s also set up for a launch in Q4 of 2023 according to the studio, although the Steam page says sometime in Q3. You can also wishlist it on Steam already. The studio doesn’t mention the length of the test or what kinds of content the test will include.
If you’re interested in checking out the beta test, you’ll need to sign up for it. You can do so at the game’s official website. Keep in mind the upcoming beta test is a closed beta though. Just signing up doesn’t guarantee access. If you haven’t checked out the beta trailer yet, you can watch it below.
