Over the past couple of months, we’ve been covering a new redesign that’s going to come to WhatsApp for Android. After a leak not too long ago, we now have more images of what the interface is going to look like. These come courtesy of WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps on the face of the planet and its interface has been in need of some refinements. The company said that it’s going to be giving the app a more modern look to it. That’s a welcomed change, as part of the app experience is the interface.
Previously, we saw how the home screen is going to look after the new redesign. It showed some major changes to the UI, and it gave us an idea of what to expect.
Now, we have some new images of the WhatsApp for Android redesign
WABetaInfo shared some images of the home screen and a few other screens in the app. After the redesign, the green strip at the top of the UI will go away. Instead, you’ll see a smaller white strip (dark gray if you’re in dark mode) run across the screen. In light mode, you’ll see the WhatsApp text in the green color. It will be white if you’re in dark mode.
The tabs that run across the interface move to the bottom of the interface. All of the tabs will remain the same, but the Chats, Updates, and Calls tabs will finally be icons next to them. The Communities tab will retain its icon.
Up top, where the tabs used to be, you’ll get some message filters. We see an All, Unread, Contacts, and Groups filter to help you find the messages you need faster.
This change makes the interface look more modern, and people are going to like the change. We’re not sure when this update is going to come to the Meta-owned app, but it seems to be well on its way.
