Forbes has published its World’s Best Employers list for 2023, and Samsung has topped the list once again. The Korean firm has come out on top for the fourth year in a row. It leapfrogged Alphabet in 2020 and never looked back. Alphabet led the chart for three straight years before that.
Samsung once again emerges as the world’s best employer in Forbes survey
Every year around this time, Forbes releases a list of the world’s best employers, which it determines after surveying hundreds of thousands of employees working for various multinational companies and institutions all over the world. This year, it partnered with market research firm Statista for the survey. Over 170,000 employees from more than 50 countries responded.
The survey asked employees to rate their employer across multiple criteria. These include “working environment and hours, health benefits, opportunities for training and advancement, salary, and workplace diversity.” Formes also asked them whether they would recommend their company to family or friends. The ratings given by the employees were then combined into a score.
This year’s World’s Best Employers list from Forbes features 700 companies. While the publication didn’t reveal the score achieved by the companies, the list reveals that Samsung employees are the happiest. Microsoft, Alphabet (Google), Apple, and Ferrari follow the Korean behemoth. IBM, Adobe, Costco Wholesale, BMW Group, and Cisco Systems make up the top ten.
With 270,372 employees across all its work sites globally, Samsung is the biggest employer among the top five. This shows that the company has been able to keep its workforce happy with facilities and growth opportunities. The Korean firm allows employees to work on unique product ideas alongside their regular jobs and funds them to help realize the ideas. These kinds of innovations from Samsung helped it get positive feedback from its employees.
Samsung’s head of corporate people, KH Na, said that these efforts help the company strengthen its “global network among employees and support the growth of our employees around the world.” The firm has long been the world’s largest smartphone and TV vendor, while simultaneously competing with the biggest companies in various other industries, including semiconductor, camera sensor, networking, and more.
Automakers also keep their employees happy
Forbes’ World’s Best Employers list for 2023 is dominated by tech companies at the top. However, globally renowned automakers also mostly feature within the top 50. Following Ferrar (5th) and BMW Group (9th), we have Bosch at 19th, Honda Motor at 21st, Mercedes-Benz Group at 27th, and Volkswagen Group at 41st. Ford Motor finds itself at the 71st spot on the list.
In the clothing and fashion sector, Adidas (12th), Rolex (14th), Nike (20th), Puma (30th), Chanel (4th0), and Prada (49th) are the best employers. Overall, the wholesale sector is the most represented on the list (61 times), with Costco (8th), German drugstore chain Rossmann (16th), and French sporting goods store Decathlon (24th) leading the race.
