OnePlus is working on a headphone recording mode

OnePlus’ earbuds are devices that don’t get as much attention as its phones, but they are really great for their price. According to a new APK deep dive conducted by Android Authority, OnePlus is working on a headphone recording mode for its earbuds. This will definitely come in handy when recording video.

OnePlus’ earbuds are compatible with Oneplus’ phones, and this allows you to use advanced features. However, if you don’t use a OnePlus phone (by the way, check out our OnePlus 12R review), you’re not out of luck. You can simply use the Hey Melody app. This gives you the same functionality as if you were using a OnePlus phone. Well, thanks to an APK deep dive conducted in that app, it appears that OnePlus is working on some interesting audio features that video content creators will love.

OnePlus is working on a headphone recording feature

Since this is an APK deep-dive, you’ll definitely want to take this news cautiously. Companies add code for feature into the current versions of their apps. However, it is not a guarantee that the feature will launch.

When you’re recording video using your phone, the audio is being picked up by your phone’s microphone. However, that’s not ideal for every situation. For example, if you’re a content creator, and you want to record your voice, then you will need to have your phone close to you in order to pick up your voice. That’s not great if you’re standing away from your phone.

A good solution is the headphone recording feature that OnePlus is working on. When you’re using it, the audio will be picked up by your headphone’s microphones rather than your phone’s microphone. This could have some benefits for people recording.

Strings Within the Hey Melody app point to this. Along with that, the strings point to an Immersive Mode that will enable a multi-channel surround effect. According to the description, it “provides a rich and immersive audio experience.” Another one is called the high-definition recording mode. According to the code, it “authentically reproduces surrounding sounds.”

At this point, there’s no way of telling when/if the company is going to launch this feature. In any case, we are certain that video content creators will love the option.
