Motorola is planning to launch a couple of new Razr clamshell foldable smartphones later this year. Allegedly dubbed the Razr 50 and Razer 50 Ultra, the upcoming handsets will be last year’s Razr 40 series of devices. In some markets like the US, the next-gen Motorola flippable smartphones are expected to carry the name Razr+ 2024.
Ahead of an official announcement, the new Razr series offerings have already been the subject of several leaks and reports lately. Now, a new report has leaked the renders and specifications of the upcoming Motorola foldable phones. Notably, the newly leaked information suggests that the new cheaper Motorola Razr foldable smartphone will have a full-size cover display.
The cheaper Razr smartphone’s cover display will be much larger than the Razr 40
If the renders shared by the source are to be believed, the upcoming Motorola cheaper Razr offering will have a much larger cover display than its predecessor, the Razr 40. The Alleged Razr 50 will have a full-size cover screen. Which will wrap around the primary cameras, just like the Razr 40 Ultra. The source also suggests that the Razr 50’s outer screen will be a bit smaller than the higher-end Razr 50 Ultra model. Notably, the latter will be lighter than the former, thanks to the presence of smaller battery cells.
The Razr 50 series specifications have also surfaced
According to the source, the Razr 50 series of clamshell smartphones will offer a main 6.9-inch POLED screen. The display panel will have a maximum screen refresh rate of 165Hz, SGS Low Blue Light certified, and SGS Low Motion Blur certified. While the Razr 50 aka Razr+ 2024 will draw power from the MediaTek Dimensity 7300x SoC, the Razr 50 Ultra will get the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset.
Both the Razr 50 series devices will be available in single RAM and storage variants. The Razr 50 will be available with 8GB and 256GB memory configurations. The 50 Ultra, on the other hand, will get a higher 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model. The Razr 50 is claimed to offer a 3.63-inch POLED cover screen. As for the Razr 50 Ultra, it could provide a bigger 4-inch panel.
As for the cameras, the Razr 50 could offer a 50MP+13MP primary camera setup. The Razr 50 Ultra is expected to have two 50MP main snappers. Both are said to provide 32MP selfie cameras embedded in a hole in the main foldable display. The new foldable Motorola clamshell handsets are expected to have the same price tag as their launch.
The new Motorola Razr 50 or Razr+ 2024 series devices will be available in multiple color variants. The Razr 50 is said to be available in Peach Fuzz, Green, and Blue hues. As for the Razr 50 Ultra, it could be offered in Gray and Khaki color models.
