AI Overviews are expanding to more places

Back in May, Google unveiled one of its most controversial AI features to date. AI Overviews were met with criticism…. and then they started delivering really messed up results. This caused the company to walk the feature back. Well, Google isn’t done with this feature, as it’s expanding AI Overviews to more regions.

To catch you up, AI Overviews is the feature that will create AI-generated summaries of your search queries. It’s something that many people, especially site owners, didn’t like. This gives people the ability to forgo visiting websites and contributing to their ad revenue.

Not only that, but AI Overviews were also generating inaccurate and potentially dangerous results. Everyone keeps giving the company a hard time for telling people to put glue on pizza. So, it was clear that Google still had some work to do on the feature. While it was pretty much in hibernation, it’s been available in a very limited capacity.

AI Overviews are expanding to more places

While this feature has pretty much been non-existent, the company has been working on bringing it back into the world. According to a new report, Google is expanding the feature to six more regions. These are Japan, The UK, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil.

The company stated “Through our testing in these markets, we’ve found that people prefer using Search with AI Overviews, and they find their search results more helpful.” So, it was inevitable that the company was going to bring to these markets.

As time goes on, Google is going to bring AI Overview to even more markets, whether we like it or not. Hopefully, Google has improved the quality of the results before making it to everyone.

Along with this news, Google is also changing how it displays links. One thing that keeps AI Overviews from being a complete smack to the face of publication sites is the fact that it surfaces links to where it got the information.

It looks like links will be embedded into the actual results themselves. This will help people navigate to more publisher websites, the company says.

Save feature

Along with these changes, AI Overviews could bring a save feature. This will let you store the queries you searched for. It will save the queries in an Interests page.
