Galaxy A06 goes official with a new design and improved display

Samsung has expanded its range of Galaxy A series by launching the Galaxy A06. After roaming in Rumor Land for a while, the phone just went official in Vietnam. The device has arrived as the successor to last year’s Galaxy A05. The Samsung Galaxy A06 brings a new design, an improved display, and the latest Android experience.

Samsung Galaxy A06 brings a new “Key Island” design and an improved screen

The new Samsung Galaxy A06 smartphone features a slightly refreshed design with the “Key Island” frame. It is equipped with an upgraded fingerprint sensor, which is integrated into the power button on the side. The phone offers the same 6.7-inch display with HD+ resolution as its predecessor. However, the company has upgraded the screen refresh rate to 90Hz on the newer model.

It offers the same MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and 5,000mAh 25W fast-charging battery

Apart from a slightly refreshed design and an improved display, the Galaxy A06 doesn’t bring any other improvements. The phone is still powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor like its predecessor. It also has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and supports microSD card expansion up to 1TB. There’s also a more affordable variant of the device with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage.

In the camera department, the Galaxy A06 offers the same 50MP primary camera at the rear. There’s also a secondary lens at the back, but there’s no word regarding its megapixel count at the moment. For selfies and video calling, the phone is expected to offer the same 8MP camera found on its predecessor.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy A06 offers 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C. The phone is still fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W wired fast charging technology. Software-wise, the handset boots Android 14 out of the box. Samsung didn’t mention AI anywhere in the press release, so don’t expect the advanced software features on the new A series offering.
