Google just announced its latest hardware during its Made By Google event. With that behind us, we’re still seeing the aftermath of the event. Now, Google is talking about software. The company just released a new Reddit post explaining when it’s going to release the first Android 15 QPR. Spoiler alert, it’s a while away.
Google just announced its latest Pixel devices. We saw the Pixel 9 series of phones, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Buds Pro 2. These are all the best that the company has to offer, and they all bring some neat AI features to boot. The pre-orders are live, so you can put in your order now. For example, there are some neat deals at Verizon.
The Android 15 QPR won’t be here anytime soon
Over the past couple of months, people have been test-driving Android 15 through the beta program. Well, that chapter has come to a close, as Google announced the final Android 15 beta release yesterday.
With that news, the company clued us in on when we should expect the first post-beta Android 15 update. It explained that the first Android 15 QPR (quarterly platform release) will be dropping in December. That seems like a bit of a wait for the next step in Android 15’s journey.
In case you don’t know, the new Google Pixel 9 phones won’t be launching with Android installed. It seems that the rollout has been delayed, but these devices are launching much earlier than in previous years. So, it makes sense that Android 15 won’t be ready in time for those devices.
So, we expect the stable version of Android 15 to launch at a reasonable point in the year. Hopefully, it will be ready sometime in September. We’ve seen some interesting features so far. While it doesn’t really bring any new visuals, we’re seeing some new functionality.
When Google eventually launches Android 15, it will make it to the Pixel 9 devices before any other devices.
