Galaxy Z Flip 5, Flip 4, Fold 5 & Fold 4 getting February 2025 update

Samsung recently began the rollout of the latest security patch for its eligible devices. The firm has already sent it out even to mid-range models, such as the Galaxy A73. Now, older flagship devices are receiving it. The February 2025 update is already arriving to the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Flip 4, Fold 5, and Flip 5, the company’s 2022 and 2023 foldables.

Samsung’s February 2025 security update reaching the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Flip 4, Fold 5, and Fold 4 in the US

As reported by Sammy Fans, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 units are already receiving the February 2025 update in the US. It is first being seen on carrier-locked Verizon models. However, it is expected to expand to more telecoms and carrier-free devices soon. The updates for the Fold 5 and Flip 5 are labeled with build numbers F946USQS5DYA5 and F731USQS5DYA5, respectively.

On the other hand, according to SamMobile, the older Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are receiving the same treatment. In the case of the Z Fold 4 (SM-F936U), the update—which has the build number F936USQS7GYA5—was spotted on carrier-locked models from MetroPCS and T-Mobile. The carrier-locked Z Flip 4 (SM-F721U) is receiving the firmware on DISH, MetroPCS, and T-Mobile telecoms. The OTA for this particular device has the build number F721USQS7GYA5.

Don’t expect to see any new features after installing the February 2025 patch on your Galaxy. Your device will be more secure, but Samsung is saving the best for One UI 7. Unfortunately, the rollout of the Android 15-based update for Samsung’s phones is taking longer than expected. In particular, the latest security patch brings fixes for up to 40 potentially exploitable vulnerabilities. There are 36 fixes from Google for Android’s core and four for Samsung’s hardware/software.

In the most severe cases, these vulnerabilities allowed attackers to do things that were quite risky for your privacy. For example, they enabled them to manage the Samsung Find security system or even to forcefully trigger ADB.

One UI 7 seems to be far away yet

The update you’re most looking forward to is probably One UI 7. However, you’ll have to be patient, according to recent reports. The OTA rollout is reportedly several weeks away for the Galaxy S24 series. This means that users of older models will have to wait even longer.
