GTA VI could release on PC earlier than expected

GTA VI is supposed to be launching on consoles only this year, with the likelihood that a PC release date could be a long while afterward, unless a new rumor about the release window ends up being accurate.

As of right now Rockstar and its publishing company Take-Two Interactive have confirmed that the game is launching on consoles first. GTA VI will eventually get a PC release, but it won’t be until some time later. If you go off of Rockstar’s last GTA release, GTA V, players could be waiting almost two years. GTA V was released on PC more than a year and a half after the console launch. GTA IV, however, was only about a 7-month difference.

So there is hope that PC players won’t have to wait nearly as long as last time. Especially if you factor in the rumor that suggests the PC version of the game could arrive earlier than most fans probably expect.

Corsair’s CEO believes GTA VI could get a PC release earlier next year

While it might still be a while before GTA VI comes to PC, Corsair’s CEO believes it could be much earlier. Corsair CEO Andrew Paul recently spoke to investors at its recent earnings call, noting that the game could be available on PC as soon as early 2026. The game is supposed to hit consoles in the Fall of this year. So at its earliest, the game could hit PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as early as late September. An early 2026 release for PC could be as late as March or April.

If that does happen, then it could only be about 7 to 8 months between the console release and the PC release. There are of course plenty of variables here. The game could be delayed or launched later in the Fall and earlier in 2026 than four months in. This is all speculation, of course.

An early 2026 release for PC players? Do tell

Here’s what Andrew Paul had to say about the release. “More people are gaming, but not all are gaming on new games. The activity around PC builds or gaming PC builds is roughly on par with pre-COVID now. And obviously, we know that there was a little bit of a pull forward from ’22 to ’24 in ’20 and ’21. That’s why we expect this refresh to build up and give us a little bit of growth in that area.

But yes, GTA VI is probably the one everyone is talking about. And we’ll get a glimpse of that, I think, later in the year for console. My understanding now is it’s going to come out in the fall for console and then early ’26 for PC.” So there you have it. Corsair’s CEO is under the impression there’s an early 2026 release for the game on PC. It’s worth keeping in mind, however, that Paul’s information could be wrong. Or it could be on point and things may change.

If the game is delayed on console, it’ll likely be delayed for PC

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has gone on record more than once saying he was confident in the Fall 2025 release of GTA VI. With that in mind, entertain the idea that the game does get delayed. If it gets delayed on console, then it will likely get delayed on PC as well. This is more speculation but it’s something that PC players may want to keep in mind. As Rockstar did delay its last two major releases.

Still, there’s hope that GTA VI is going to be released on time. If and when it does, then all that’s left is for PC players to wait their turn.
