Galaxy S25 Edge will be made out of ceramic & aluminum

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be made out of ceramic and aluminum. We already knew about the aluminum part, but the ceramic info is new. It comes from SamMobile.

Samsung plans to use ceramic on the back of the Galaxy S25 Edge

The source claims that Samsung will utilize ceramic “for better durability”. Yes, ceramic is more durable than glass, but it’s also heavier. Considering that this phone’s main attraction is its thinness, one would assume Samsung would also want to make it as light as possible.

Well, the ceramic aspect may not bring a notable weight increase to the table if it ends up being a version of glass with fused ceramic material. That’s also an option. It will be notably heavier if Samsung actually uses ceramic for the entirety of the backplate.

In regards to aluminum, Samsung will almost certainly use ‘Armor Aluminum’, which is basically the company’s branding for the aluminum it uses on the Galaxy S smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was teased during the first Unpacked event last month. Samsung kind of showed us its design too. It will feature two cameras on the back, flat sides, and a very thin profile.

This phone will be only 5.84mm thick

The device will allegedly measure only 5.84mm in terms of thickness. Samsung was also considering a bit thicker design with three cameras on the back but ultimately chose to go with this one.

Chances are that the company will show off the device at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, but most likely under glass or something. A full launch is expected to happen in April, if not in May. The exact time was not yet confirmed, only the timeframe.

The device is expected to feature a 6.7-inch display and a 200-megapixel main camera. A 3,900mAh battery is also tipped, and the same goes for 25W wired charging. The Snapdragon 8 Elite will likely fuel the device.
