Summary:A new rumor just sprang up suggesting that Siri will be getting an update in the Fall this year. However, it may not be the massive overhaul that the company advertised when it showed off Apple Intelligence.
Apple users are racking up high scores in the waiting game, as they’re waiting for Apple to finally deliver all of its exciting AI features. The company introduced us to Apple Intelligence last year, and we all thought that it would be a slam dunk for the company. However, it quickly became obvious that it wasn’t arriving anytime soon.
Now, in 2025, Apple still hasn’t delivered any worthwhile AI features to the platform, and some people are wondering if the company will ever be ready. A little bit of news that just came out might be a bit of a smack to the face of people who have been waiting for the new Siri.
Siri is getting an update this fall, but it won’t be what people want
Just like Amazon, much of Apple’s generative AI will focus on the company’s voice assistant. The thinking about it is that Siri will be a true agent that lives on your smartphone. It will do several tasks across multiple apps on your behalf.
The thing is that Siri is still stuck in 2016. It lacks much of what makes Gemini a superior agent. According to a recent report, Siri returned incorrect answers about 33% of the time. This was based on internal testing. Another report points to a 16.9% rate of incorrect responses.
So, Apple wants to make sure that Siri doesn’t have any hiccups before it releases the new Siri. This has been pushing the launch date back over the past year.
Apple plans to update Siri sometime this Fall, but don’t expect the new “Personalized Siri” that the company showcased last year. That massive update won’t come until sometime next year. That’s pretty disappointing, as advanced AI was going to be one of the things to separate the iPhone 17 from the other models. Without it, we’re going to be looking at another boring iPhone release.
