How to cancel your YouTube Premium Subscription

Cancelling your YouTube Premium membership can be a bit tricky, as with any cancellation, there are some hoops to jump through. It works the same on both desktop, and in YouTube’s mobile apps.

To get started, open YouTube’s website or the app.

Next, tap on your profile picture.

Then tap on “Purchases and memberships”.

Here, you’ll see your purchases and memberships, as expected.

Tap on the Premium membership, or “Manage Membership” if you are on desktop.

Next, tap on “Deactivate”.

YouTube will now ask you if you really want to cancel, and also inform you that you can pause for up to six months. Tap “Continue to Cancel”.

YouTube will take this time to show you how you have used Premium since starting your membership. Now, tap on “Next” at the bottom.

It’ll ask you why you want to cancel, which you can just tap on “Don’t want to answer”.

Finally, you’ll see a big blue button asking you to “Cancel Premium”. Click that button.

Now you have finally cancelled YouTube Premium.
