Samsung has announced that it has opened its beta program for the new version of One UI – that’s One UI 4, which is based on Android 12. This is a bit of a surprise since Google has not released Android 12 yet. Typically, Samsung’s Beta Program starts after Google releases the final version of Android 12, but that is not expected until October. This is also the earliest that Samsung has ever started its Beta Program.
Now, enthusiasts and developers can get their hands on the latest version of Samsung’s software. And we’re going to show you how you can join the Samsung Beta Program for the latest version of One UI.
- Editor’s Note: Keep in mind that this is a Beta and the first beta of Android 12/One UI 4 for Samsung, so this update might be pretty rough. It’s wise not to install this beta on your main device.
What devices are compatible with Samsung’s Beta Program?
Samsung typically starts its Beta Program on its latest flagship device, then expands it to other devices in the coming months. As of right now, these devices are compatible:
- Samsung Galaxy S21
- Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus
- Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Additionally, the Beta Program is only available in seven countries right now. That includes:
- China
- Germany
- India
- Poland
- South Korea
- United Kingdom
- United States
How To Join The Samsung One UI 4 Beta Program
Open the Samsung Members app on your Samsung smartphone.
Login to your Samsung account (if you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one).
Next, select the “Registration for One UI Beta Program” option at the top of the home page or notices page.
Now, you’ll be sent an OTA to update your device to One UI 4 and Android 12. So head over to Settings, tap on Software Update and then “Download and Install”.
The update will now download and install on your Samsung smartphone. This might take a little while to install, since it is a big update, and brings you to a new version of Android. So if you see your phone taking longer than usual to update, don’t worry, this is normal.
