Want To Share PS5 Digital Games? Here's How You Can Enable It

Game sharing across profiles on Sony’s PlayStation 5 — just as with its predecessors — is one of its best features. Summarily, the company allows a console that you’ve logged into to share your games across other profiles on the console. And that doesn’t just mean the one you use yourself every day. You can, in fact, share your PS5 games with another console, if you know how to enable it. With caveats.

The first caveat is, of course, that you can’t keep sharing games across profiles on more than one console. At least not at a time. For instance, you can log into your PS5 at home and share your games. But you can’t then enable the feature on another PS5 and share games there too. The feature will need to be disabled on one console or the other.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t log in to more than one PS5 and enable sharing on one that isn’t necessarily yours. While keeping your own games on your own profile on your primary console so that you yourself can continue to play them. And that’s exactly what this guide is here to walk you through. So if you want to ready your own PS5 to stop sharing and enable another PS5 to share your games, read on.

Here’s how you can enable game share features on another PS5 console

Now, the process of setting up the game share feature on a separate console is actually not as straightforward as might be hoped. In fact, it requires a complete set of steps on both the console you want to share games with and your own console. That makes the process somewhat more convoluted than it might otherwise be if, for example, Sony was allowing game sharing on any console you’re logged into. And certainly more an involved process than simply sharing game discs.

Having said that, once you know where to look, as with most of our how-to guides, it is fairly easy to get this done.

1. To begin with, you’ll need to turn off game sharing on your primary console. So the first step will be navigating to Settings from the home screen, by selecting the cog-shaped Settings icon at the top right-hand side of the PS5 UI
2. Next, select “Users and Accounts” and then “Other” before selecting “Console Sharing and Offline Play”
3. Then select the “Disable” button. As shown in the images below. Make sure you read the description because, as noted above, once you disable this on your primary console, other users on the primary console won’t have access to your digital games anymore. You can only share games from an account across a console on a single console. As noted above
4. Next, we’ll need to set up on the console intended for sharing. So, on the other PS5, navigate back to the Settings menu, following step one above
5. Again, select “Users and Accounts”
6. This time, select “Sign-in ID (Email Address)” and then sign in to the PS5 console you plan to share games on. It’s worth noting, at this point, that you should not give out your login information to others. That will, in fact, make it easier for them to turn this feature on or off at will. Potentially making it more difficult for you to take game sharing away if you need to at some point in the future. You should also set up a passcode, especially on the PS5 that isn’t your own, when you set this up. And it may also be a good idea to turn on two-factor authentication. Having said that, the next few steps are fairly easy
7. Next, without leaving the “Users and Accounts” menu, select “Other” and “Console Sharing and Offline Play”
8. On the console you want to share games with, the button will read “Enable.” That’s as opposed to “Disable” as it did on your primary console and in the images below. But it will be in the same location. So, select “Enable”
9. As suggested by the UI, that console will now be sharing digital games with others. So the final step will simply be to download games to that account on that console. The games will be accessible to all users on the console unless otherwise dictated by parental controls
