The two-time Wimbledon champion said on June 27 that if was able to play at Wimbledon -- as he has did on Thursday -- then he would likely retire after the Paris Olympics. Murray faced a race against time to be fit to play in his final tournament at the All England Club after undergoing a procedure to address a spinal cyst on June 22. He subsequently withdrew from his first-round singles match on Tuesday, but confirmed that he would play in the men's doubles. However, the 37-year-old's Wimbledon farewell got off to a difficult start on Thursday as he was knocked out of the men's doubles in the first round alongside his older brother, Jamie, with a 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss to Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers. Speaking after the match, Murray discussed coming to terms with the end of his playing career. "I would love to keep playing, but I can't physically. It is too tough now. All of the injuries, they've added up. ... They haven't been insignificant. But yeah, I want to play forever," Murray told the BBC. "I love the sport. It's given me so much, taught me loads of lessons over the years that I can use for the rest of my life. But yeah, I don't want to stop, so it is hard." Murray also hinted that he might be interested in taking up coaching in his post-playing career. Asked if he was a good tennis watcher, Murray said: "It depends who I'm watching. I hate watching my brother. I find it really difficult to watch my brother play. But yeah, I love tennis. I watch it all the time. I'd probably be more comfortable sitting up there in a coaching box than somewhere else." Murray is due to take to the court again this week after Wimbledon organisers announced on Wednesday that he had entered the mixed doubles draw alongside fellow Brit Emma Raducanu after the pair were given a wild-card entry. The mixed doubles competition begins on Friday. 0004 Amos After Image For Home Show 3 Kitchen Bump Out Ideas 955x531 025 1087 PENSIVE LANE 275779 481708 ?width=1400&name=025 1087 PENSIVE LANE 275779 481708 822e8f99968f689b0e307b5c5cbe1daf B630dba8e90fe39f325c2c35fc71af10 Kitchen View Leading Dining Area 2f97106b982279ca07735d8b31f6cdcf Bump Out Bump Out Addition Custom Kitchen With Bump Out Addition Peterson Renovations Inc Img~fad1b5c701c39562 4 9169 1 0d43ad1 Sunrooms In Mountain View CA 1024x683 Kitchen Bump Out St Paul Remodel White Cabinets Fc3cf0a5aeaf82a41777e8b94f3abe01 Bump Out Before After Graphic E1651076687310 KitchenHouseAddition E78fbd1109b941ab9d3be1a58bf92880 54e0df607848dbfccdc5286d747ce099 1c2d6ba2e118d0e8a0f23ceb1d002702 7a50d70d6af71dc0dde2caf5ea0059a5 92c665fa0e13a18eaf93823e66a64012 0021 B1eda7a6c8b3b9565dbd91a444c5c797 Cdeabe7494747ab95bcde37c3e441f41 51cd73980c46b65d882965c28504c75e 010 After North Oaks WH Reno Add 1 115f6a 7f93615658044470ba8eb68fbee80c15~mv2 Bump Out Addition 3 80 Kitchen Bump Out Ideas #keepProtocol 32720c1514caf2e7842ae4bb5e870ae8 Kitchen Bump Out.webp Bb78230ca0121066a91659336bf73ee9 File 2 Bump Out 1536x1024 File 3 840x500 Cooper Design Build (2) ?width=1800&name=Cooper Design Build (2)
