Samsungintroduced its Galaxy S23 series of smartphones today. The company announced three devices, and we’re here to take a closer look at one of them. To be more accurate we’re here to take a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy S23 specifications.
The Galaxy S23 includes a rather compact display, and adaptive 120Hz refresh rate
This is the vanilla version in the series, and also the smallest phone in the series, by far. The Galaxy S23 features a 6.1-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display. That panel is flat, by the way, and it supports a 120Hz refresh rate, along with 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode. Its refresh rate is also adaptive (48-120Hz), by the way.
There is a display camera hole here, as the ‘Infinity-O’ branding suggests, and this panel has a 425 ppi. Its peak brightness is at 1,750 nits, which is a lot. It can be achieved through automatic brightness when needed. The display aspect ratio is 19.5:9, in case you were wondering. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this panel.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is included, along with 25W charging
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels this phone, or as Samsung calls it the “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”. You will find 8GB of RAM inside of this phone, while both 128GB and 256GB storage options are available. The storage is not expandable.
A 3,900mAh battery sits on the inside of this phone, and 25W wired charging (50% in 30 minutes) is supported. 15W wireless charging is also supported, as is Wireless PowerShare aka reverse wireless charging (5W). The charger is not included in the retail box, by the way.
A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 85-degree FoV) sits on the back, and is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, OIS, 120-degree FoV). The third camera on the back is a 10-megapixel telephoto unit (OIS, f/2.4 aperture, 3x optical zoom, 30x Space Zoom, 36-degree FoV). The Galaxy S22 offers 8K video recording at 30 fps, and 4K recording at 60 fps.
On the front, you’ll find a single 12-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture, 80-degree FoV). The phone’s front-facing camera can also record 4K video at 60 fps. The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner (ultrasonic), and supports face recognition. The phone is encased in “Armor Aluminum” body.
The device is water and dust resistant, while it ships with Android 13
The phone is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. It supports Bluetooth 5.3, and WiFi 6E. 5G support is also included (sub6 & mmW). Android 13 comes pre-installed, along with Samsung’s One UI skin.
The Galaxy S23 measures 146 x 70.9 x 7.6mm, while it weighs 168 grams. The phone comes in Cream, Green Lavender, and Phantom Black color options. More exclusive colors will be available via the Samsung Store, including Graphite, Lime, Sky Blue, and Red.
