Listen, smartwatches are great and having lots of choices for bands is great too, but what isn’t great is having to deal with those awful little pins on the underside of the band to remove them and swap them out, a problem which Samsung seems to have solved with its new one-click band system for the Galaxy Watch 6.
If you’re having trouble envisioning what the one-click band system looks like for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, it’s just like it sounds. A single button you press to pull the pins inward so you can click the band into place between the lugs. This is going to make swapping out bands a breeze. Even if you didn’t previously have much trouble using the more standard pin system, it’ll be hard to argue that this isn’t that much easier to use. And it only gets better.
The one-click band system is backwards compatible with Galaxy Watch 5 and 4
The one-click system may be debuting alongside the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. But it isn’t going to be exclusive to those two watches. Samsung confirms the new and improved bands will be backwards compatible with both the Galaxy Watch 5 series and the Galaxy Watch 4 series.
So even if you aren’t upgrading to a new version of the smartwatch, you can still upgrade the bands and make your life easier, and the task of swapping out bands less annoying. Sure, many people probably aren’t going to use more than one band. But there are lots of users who will want different bands for different occasions or activities. And now with the one-click bands, you can swap them out quicker and more effortlessly. Samsung hasn’t said how much these bands will cost just yet. But we can’t imagine they’ll be that much different from the cost of their older counterparts.
If that ends up being the case and prices are similar, you can probably expect the cost of these new one-click bands to be anywhere from $40 to $80. It’s also unclear how different bands it will offer that use this new system.
