The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the company’s clamshell foldable which is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The device is coming in Q3 this year, and we already have plenty of information about it. As we’re getting closer to its launch, more and more info will surface, though, of course. With that being said, we’re here to check out what you can expect out of the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung seemingly won’t make monumental changes to its flip phone. It will be a more powerful device but don’t expect the company to reinvent the wheel. There are only so many ways a clamshell foldable can be made. Let’s see what the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to offer, shall we?
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. This is the original posting of the article..
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 be released?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will become official in the third quarter of the year. We’re still not sure when exactly, but it’ll be either July or August. Judging by the last two years, however, July seems like more of an option. Both the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 arrived in July. The Galaxy Z Flip 4, on the other hand, was launched in August. It seems more likely Samsung will stick to a July launch. The Galaxy S25’s launch timeframe is another indicator. Those devices launched in January, and when they arrive in January, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series phones follow in July. At least that has been the case for years now.
What models are coming?
Based on rumored information, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The phone will arrive in two storage options, in 256GB and 512GB storage flavors. Samsung will likely use UFS 4.0 flash storage, here, and no, it won’t be expandable. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 arrived with 128GB storage on its base model, but not in the US. Samsung may ditch that model altogether and upgrade the base variant to 256GB, but we’re still not sure. There is still a chance we may get a 128GB option in some markets, though, it remains to be seen.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 cost?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 may not arrive with a price increase. Based on the rumored information, the device may end up costing the same as its predecessor. In other words, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 may have a $1,099 price tag in the US. Its price in other regions will vary, of course. That $1,099 price tag was for the 256GB storage variant of the phone, as the 128GB storage flavor did not launch in the US. The 512GB storage variant of the phone was priced at $1,219 at launch, so the same may be the case for the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
What will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 look like?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will look very similar to its predecessor. In fact, it’ll look so similar that many people will not be able to figure out which is which. We’ve exclusively revealed the design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. We did that via CAD-based renders, which do give us a great look at the device, from all angles. You’ll find a gallery with the images below, along with a video that will give you a 360-degree look at the phone’s design.
As you can see the folder-style cover display is still here, while the cameras and LED flash are still in the same place. The cameras are horizontally aligned in the top-left corner on the back, while the LED flash sits right next to them. The space between the black portion around the display and the middle of the phone seems to be thinned down, though, the phone’s frame, essentially. The black bezels around the cover display also seem to be thinner on the new model.
Its frame will remain flat
The device will once again fold right down the middle, of course, while Samsung’s branding will be present on the bottom portion of the device’s back side. The frame will be flat all around the device, while the phone’s fingerprint scanner will sit inside the power/lock button. Both the power/lock key and volume up and down buttons will sit on the right-hand side of the phone, on its upper portion.
The display will feature a centered display camera hole, at the very top of the display. It will essentially be in the same place as on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The bezels may be a bit thinner, but we’re not 100% sure just yet. The phone will measure 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm (9.1mm with the camera bump) when unfolded. Those measurements are based on the CAD renders. That means that the phone will be slightly taller and notably wider than its predecessor. They will be equal in terms of thickness, though.
It’ll be larger than its predecessor
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is 165.1mm tall and 71.9mm wide. Why the change? Well, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will seemingly have a larger display. Its main panel will measure 6.8 inches, while its cover display will measure 3.6 inches. The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s main panel measures 6.7 inches, while its cover display measures 3.4 inches.
What specs will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 have?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be a powerful device, and many of you are probably wondering what chip will it include. There have been many rumors about the Exynos 2500 flying around. Quite a few of them mentioned that it may fuel the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but not the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Well, chances are that the Exynos 2500 will not be a part of the equation, mainly due to the yield rate of that chip. So, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy will likely fuel it, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. We’ll likely get that model, not the 7-core option, but we’ll see.
The crease will be less visible, and you’ll get 12GB of RAM
The phone is said to have a less visible crease, and an enhanced hinge too. A larger vapor chamber is also rumored. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will likely include 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, while 256GB and 512GB storage options will be on offer. UFS 4.0 flash storage will be used by the company, and it will not be expandable. The device will also include larger displays than its predecessor.
Samsung is said to include a 6.8-inch foldable display on the phone and a 3.6-inch cover panel. Its predecessor has a 6.7-inch main panel and a 3.4-inch cover display. That will affect the physical footprint too, as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is said to be both taller and wider, as we’ve already mentioned in the design section. We still don’t know how much will the device weigh, however, but chances are it will be a bit heavier. Do note that the displays are said to be more power efficient.
We don’t expect to see (major) camera upgrades
The phone may not deliver camera hardware upgrades, however. Based on one source, the same cameras (as on the Galaxy Z Flip 6) will be included. A 50-megapixel main camera is said to be flanked by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit. On the main display, a 10-megapixel selfie camera is tipped. We’ll have to wait for more information in order to be sure, but for the time being, this is the information that we have.
Should you wait to buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7?
Based on the information we have thus far, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 won’t exactly be a major upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The design will be slightly tweaked only, with some under-the-hood improvements. Yes, it will be more powerful and have larger displays, but overall, the experience should be very similar. Not even the camera hardware is said to be improved, so… chances are that Galaxy Z Flip 6 users will want to stick to their devices. Not everything has been revealed yet, however, so things could change as we find out more information about the device.
