Sony has announced three new devices during IFA in Berlin last month, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. The first two smartphones are actually Sony’s new flagship offerings, while the latter one is more of a mid-range device. Sony has rolled out these phone in various markets all over the world already, and is planning to push them to even more markets in the coming weeks. Well, those of you who live in the US and are interested in getting the Xperia Z5 Compact, this is your lucky day, read on.
The Xperia Z5 Compact is now available in the US through Amazon. The phone is actually available in Black, Yellow, Red and White color options, and depending on the version, they cost between $539 and $548. Keep in mind that these models are unlocked, of course. The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact features a 4.6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD Triluminos display along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 200GB via microSD card). This device is fueled by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 23-megapixel snapper (PDAF) is available on the back of this handset, and a 5.1-megapixel camera can be found up front. The 2,700mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, and you do get 4G LTE connectivity here as well. The Xperia Z5 Compact ships with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, while the device measures 127 x 65 x 8.9mm, and weighs 138 grams. It is also worth mentioning that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Sony’s custom UI installed on top of Google’s OS.
The Xperia Z5 Compact is not exactly the best-specced device out there, and some users were disappointed Sony didn’t built-in 3GB of RAM and a 1080p display in here, but the Xperia Z5 Compact is a premium offering no matter what way you look at it. This device isn’t exactly the cheapest one out there either, but if you’re looking for a premium built device which is extremely easy to use with one hand considering it sports a 4.6-inch display, well, your options are kind of limited.
