    The debut of Apple Intelligence

Apple introduced the iPhone 16 on September 9, 2024, along with the new iPhone 16 Pro models. The device has been available for purchase since September 20, 2024. This lineup consists of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus which are the same prices as last year – $799 and $899, respectively.

With the iPhone 16 series, Apple debuted the new Camera Control, which was rumored to be called the "Capture button". It's essentially a way for you to control your camera like it is a real camera. It's been met with mixed reviews so far. On the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, Apple also debuted the Action Button for the first time, eliminating the alert slider.

Of course, the big thing with the iPhone 16 this year is going to be Apple Intelligence, even though it is not available currently. Apple Intelligence will start to roll out with iOS 18.1 in October. Apple Intelligence brings in many new features powered by AI, like notification summaries, Genmoji and much more. This includes a brand new Siri that is going to be way more helpful than the previous version. However, Apple did set a pretty low bar there with Siri for many years.

While Apple does not tout how many years you'll be getting updates, you will likely get updates for iPhone 16 until 2030. Apple typically updates their devices for 6 years, which is lower than what Google and Samsung do these days – at 7 years – but that's still pretty incredible. Finally, the iPhone 16 is available in five colors: black, white, pink, ultramarine and teal.
