The Pixel 8 is a compact flagship smartphone from Google.

The Google Pixel 8 is one of the two Pixel 8 smartphones that Google announced in October 2023. This is the less powerful of the two, but still a flagship-grade model. It has an inferior camera setup to the Pixel 8 Pro, and also technically a lesser display. That’s not to say it’s not a compelling smartphone, quite the contrary. The Pixel 8 is not only compelling, but it’s also rather much more manageable than its larger sibling in terms of size.

The Pixel 8 features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ OLED display. That display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and it does get quite bright. The phone is really comfortable to use, and many would say that it’s perfect in terms of size. It’s also considerably lighter than the Pixel 8 Pro at 187 grams. The Pixel 8 is also made out of aluminum and glass, just like its big sibling. It has a flat display with thin bezels, and a camera visor on the back, which is also covered by aluminum.

There are two cameras included on the back of the phone, and the device does not wobble when placed on the table. It is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and includes stereo speakers. This phone is fueled by the same chip as the Pixel 8 Pro, the Google Tensor G3. That is Google’s 4nm processor. Android 14 comes pre-installed on the device, along with Google’s take on Android. Google promised 7 years of Android OS updates for the phone.

There is an optical in-display fingerprint scanner included in the package too. The Pixel 8 supports wired, wireless, and reverse wireless charging too. It’s not particularly fast, but it’s here. Four color options are available for the device, and the phone is rather slippery in the hand.
