Swype Sets Guiness World Record Texting on Samsung Galaxy S!

Swype gets its name in the record books once again as a 27 year old insurance company worked shatters the previous world record by nearly 10 seconds! Melissa Thompson was out shopping with her boyfriend over the weekend when she came upon the Samsung Roadshow. Not too much after that, she was encouraged to try and beat the world record for speedy texting.

Melissa was asked to type in the same text Franklin Page of Seattle typed to set the record of 35.94 seconds earlier this year.

“The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human”

Franklin Page set the record previously with a Samsung Omnia® IIâ„¢. Melissa Thompson was able to set the new record on the Samsung Galaxy S. The people at the Gusiness Book of World Records still need to verify her results before it is official. Thompson was shocked that she did so well saying, “My fingers were out of shape.” Thompson was typing at roughly a word every second. If the results are official, Android powered Samsung Galaxy S will steal the title away from its Wincows Mobile Samsung contender.

Below is the video of Franklin Page setting the record earlier this year.
