Verizon Pushes out Flash 10.1 Update to Droid

It’s finally here! Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it’s rolling out the expected Android supporter Flash 10.1 update for its popular Motorola DROID handset.

“Verizon Wireless has begun pushing an update today to the DROID by Motorola  that will allow customers to download Adobe Flash 10.1 via Android Market. Flash Player 10.1 provides access to millions of sites with rich content including animations, casual games, videos, rich internet applications, audio and much more.”

Droid owners should get this update on their  handsets starting today and the rollout should continue over the course of the next few days. If you are impatient, you can try to manually force a download on your Droid by selecting Settings > About Phone >Software Update. If you are really, really impatient, you can install Flash manually on your Android 2.2 handset using a third party download. You should be aware that this new firmware update only enables you to have Flash, it does not contain Flash. Once the firmware has been installed to your handset, you will need to download the Flash component from the Android Market. The download should only be available to DROID owners with Froyo so if you have a D1 with an older Android version, a DROID X , or an Incredible, please don’t waste your time searching for this coveted Flash component until you receive froyo.

If you are DROID owner  with Flash on your froyo-powered handset, leave us a comment with your first impressions.
