According to user DansDroid, the tablets would not be upgraded by Motorola if the system had been rooted. This was posted in Motorola Support Forums and started various rumours and bad press. After some posts, the user said that he was only guessing and should not be assumed correct by other readers. Well isn’t that typical?
You can get Motorola XOOM Upgraded, Just Reinstall Original Factory Software
This chaos in the Forums made the forums manager Matt grab attention of his bosses. He posted a statement in the forum which will make Xoom owners happy. According to Matt the forums manager, all Motorola Xoom tablets are eligible for 4G LTE upgrade even if it is unlocked. The process for unlocked (or rooted) Xooms for upgrade is that they have to be submitted with re-installation of the original factory software and relocked so that the software upgrade can be received.
