Unknown HTC Shooter Benchmarked? Maybe EVO 3D?

Rumor: HTC Shooter Could be HTC Evo 3D

I love following the rumors!  Recently, we told you a bit about some phones and tablets that we expect Sprint to announce at CTIA.  On the list was a successor to the HTC EVO 4G, which we expect to be called the HTC EVO 3D.  Well, there is more news to that one now.

I love following the rumors!  Recently, we told you a bit about some phones and tablets that we expect Sprint to announce at CTIA.  On the list was a successor to the HTC EVO 4G, which we expect to be called the HTC EVO 3D.  Well, there is more news to that one now.

HTC Shooter Benchmarked, Guessing Begins!

It turns out that a new device has shown up on the website GLBenchmark.com wearing HTC’s branding.  GLBenchmark is a benchmarking site dedicated to all sorts of devices running OpenGL.  The device in question is called the HTC Shooter (sounds a bit like the HTC Revolver, eh?).  It is quite the high-end device (we don’t actually know if it is a handset or tablet).  Based on the specs we have, it would be a great successor to the EVO name.

HTC Shooter Specs and Guesses

The HTC Shooter has a 960 x 540 pixel qHD display, Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread, and will run on Sprint.  It also has an Adreno 220 GPU, which suggests that it will have one of Qualcomm’s new dual core chipsets probably clocked at 1.2 GHz.  These specs make it quite similar to the HTC Pyramid expected to arrive at T-Mobile soon.  Probably the main difference between these two devices will be the radio (GSM for the Pyramid, CDMA for the Shooter/EVO 3D).

What would be “3D” about this device?  Hard to say… but we will let you know as soon as we hear something.
